PM USA has introduced into test market three smokeless tobacco products. We designed Marlboro Snus and Taboka, smokeless tobacco pouch products, for adult smokers interested in a smokeless tobacco alternative to cigarettes. We designed Marlboro Moist Smokeless Tobacco for adult moist smokeless tobacco consumers. We introduced Taboka into test market in the Indianapolis area in June 2006 and Marlboro Snus into test market in the Dallas area in August 2007. In January 2007, PM USA announced that it is discontinuing the Taboka test market in the Indianapolis area and that Marlboro Snus would be available in that market. We introduced Marlboro Moist Smokeless Tobacco into test market in the Atlanta area in October 2007. We designed these test markets to help us understand adult tobacco product consumer acceptance of these new products.

A: Snus is a term which refers to a range of smokeless tobacco products, including pouch products, manufactured and marketed in Sweden, the U.S. and other places. Marlboro Snus pouches are snus products similar to those products sold in Sweden; meaning among other things that they are smoke-free, pasteurized and also typically spit-free. We use the term snus to help adult cigarette smokers understand that this is a new product and not cigarettes or spitting tobacco like dip or chew.
